Making a Difference Everyday
Over 450 volunteers work with Senior Services of Albany in providing services to homebound seniors that enable them to remain at home and independent.
Ways to Volunteer
- Friendly Home Visiting: Volunteer to visit weekly with a homebound senior in Albany County. Matches are made based on location and shared interests. Long-lasting friendships often begin through Friendly Home Visiting.
- Grocery Shopping Assistance: Volunteer to shop weekly or bi-weekly for a homebound senior. Matches are made based on location and shopping needs. Shoppers pick up a list, shop, and deliver groceries to the senior's home.
- Meals on Wheels Delivery: Volunteer to deliver meals throughout the Capital Region one or more days per week. Meals are delivered between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Most routes take about an hour. Volunteer on your own or as a team. Substitutes are also needed.
- Design Your Own Community Service Day: Volunteer as a group on projects to improve Meals on Wheels or our Senior Centers. Past projects have included washing delivery vehicles, landscaping, cleaning, decorating, and support for special events.
